Skepticism probably plagues Harrington’s win with Tiger Woods unable to be a part of it.
But wait, Padraig Harrington did win the British Open last year too right? And after he won yet again, winning the 2008 British Open, you have to wonder if we’ll have a different story if Tiger did play or not.
You read it, Padraig Harrington bagged the 137th Open Championship, winning the title for the second straight year after beating both Greg Norman and Ian Poulter. He is now a back-to-back British Open champion people, and if you don’t know the guy before, you SHOULD now.
Two weeks ago, nobody probably predicted Padraig Harrington will have a re-peat, if you will. Harrington was at home practicing with an injured left wrist. And as the 14th ranked player in the world, he was not 100 percent sure he can continue to play in the Open Championship.
Adding insult to injury, Harrington tweaked the wrist again a day before the British Open starts, then saying his chances of finishing the Open were just 50-50. Lady luck sure have a nasty sense of humor eh?
‘’If you ask, me my best trait over the years, it’s always been my ability to learn, to look around, take the best of everything and try to put it together. I do enjoy that end of things. And I do believe I’m getting better with time,’’ the 36-year-old Harrington, who now has 13 European Tour titles, said.
Padraig Harrington first had to take the lead from Greg Norman, which he did on the par-3 12th when Norman missed a 10-foot par putt. Then came a late charge from Ian Poulter, who made a 15-foot birdie on the 16th and saved par with a 15-footer on the final hole for a 69 that looked like it might be good enough to win.

The latest main tournament in golf is underway.
The 2008 United States Open Golf Championships, commonly known as the 2008 U.S. Open, is the annual open golf tournament of the United States. This month, the U.S. Open golf championships will be held from June 9-15.
It is one of the four major championships in golf and is on the official schedule of both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. From 2008, it will also be an official money event on the Asian Tour, with 50 percent of Asian Tour members’ earnings counting towards the Order of Merit.
Who are the favorites to win this year’s U.S. Open? Of course, the name Tiger Woods will be present in this list. The question SHOULD BE, who will take on the Tiger?
One name synonymous to that is Phil Mickelson, who is coming off a dramatic 1-shot victory at Colonial in which he virtually pulled a rabbit out of his hat for a birdie on the 72nd hole to clinch the win. Both Woods and Mickelson are always considered contenders any time they tee it up, but given their recent track records, it seems Mickelson has the advantage this time.
There are two reasons why Mickelson has to be considered the favorite in this year’s U.S. Open. The first is that Tiger will tee it up not having played a competitive round since the Masters. SURE, if there is anyone who can take two months off and come back and win a major championship, it is Tiger. But still, doing that will be near to an impossibility.

The 2008 Masters golf tournament started this Wednesday and will stretch until Sunday, April 13. And as always, Tiger will be there looking to win his fifth one.
You read it people, Tiger Woods will be looking to win one for the thumb as he goes for his fifth Masters title. The guy already has four Masters in 10 starts as a professional golfer and with a .400 batting average, the guy is only two Augusta victories shy of the career record held by Jack Nicklaus.
However, while Tiger Woods is the heavy favorite every single time he enters a golf tournament, especially the Masters, recent history proves he’s far from a sure thing. After beginning his pro career as a 50 percent winner (3-for-6) at Augusta National, the number has dropped to 20 percent (1-for-5) since 2003.

The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China is almost here.
August 8 is the date that will officially kick off the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. The Beijing National Stadium will be the first stop for the highly anticipated event and will stretch until August 24.
The Games of the XXIX Olympiad, also known as the 2008 Olympic Games has an official logo titled ‘’Dancing Beijing,’’ featuring a stylized calligraphic character JING (meaning capital), referencing the host city. ‘’Dancing Beijing’’ is a milestone of the Olympics. It serves as a classic chapter of the Olympic epic inscribed by the spirit of the Chinese nation.
The mascots of the Beijing 2008 Olympics are the five Fuwa, each representing one color of the Olympic rings.
Designed to express the playful qualities of five little children who form an intimate circle of friends, the Fuwa also embody the natural characteristics of four of China’s most popular animal. Those are the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow and the Olympic Flame.

Are you ready for the Beijing Games?.
The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China is merely six months away.
Beijing, China was selected as hosts to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008. The vote followed in line with the recommendation of the IOC Evaluation Commission that ‘’Beijing Games would leave a unique legacy to China and to sports. The Commission is confident that Beijing could organize excellent Games.’’
Having narrowly lost its bid to host the 2000 Summer games in Beijing, China excelled at the Olympics held in Sydney with 28 
Gold medals and a total of 59 medals, coming in third behind traditional powerhouses Russia and the USA. So it’s probably fitting that the country hosts this one.
The torch relay for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will span 130 days and more than 85,000 miles. Dubbed as the ‘’Journey of Harmony,’’ it marks the longest distance the Olympic torch will travel EVER.
The relay begins March 25 in Olympia, Greece, then heads to Athens before being quickly flown to Beijing. The torch will be taken to new heights, LITERALLY, when it is carried to Mount Everest. The only North American stop on the torch relay will be April 9 in San Francisco.
The Beijing National Stadium, otherwise known as the ‘’Bird’s Nest,’’ will seat as many as 100,000 spectators to kick off the Olympic Games on August 8. Lights were put into operation this past week at the stadium.
