The Giants win the first game of the season!

How about that huh? KNown to be slow starters, the Giants won with Eli Manning scoring the first touchdown of the 2008-09 NFL football season. It doesn’t get any better than that.

The question now is, can they return to the big dance and win Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa?

With the New York Giants covering the spread by five points and Eli Manning starting their campaign strong, they’re certainly on the right track.

Ricky WilliamsWeek 1 continues on Sunday with 13 games. Let’s start with the St. Louis Rams visiting the Philadelphia Eagles. After a tumultuous season, the Rams come in the brand new season with a new sense of hope. They just signed Steven Jackson to a new contract and with new offensive coordinator Al Saunders taking over, they’re hoping to bring back the offense once dubbed as the greatest show on turf.

However, the Philadelphia Eagles have Donovan McNabb healthy again and I don’t see these Rams beating the Eagles in Philly. Our pick? The Eagles by ten.

The Cincinnati Bengals, led by a focused Chad Johnson, will visit the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals still have one of the high-scoring offensive schemes in the league but with Rudi Johnson now gone, I’m expecting this offense to slow down a little bit.

Our pick? The Baltimore Ravens cover the spread by a touchdown.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the New Orleans Saints next…

2008 Super Bowl XLII: New York Giants over New England Patriots 17-14

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

New York Giants came to the University of Phoenix Stadium spoiling New England Patriots unscathed record by beating the highly touted New England Patriots 17-14 in the 2008 Super Bowl XLII in Arizona.

New England Patriots –12 in the spread could not gain any momentum on their offense, both losing Super Bowl XLII bid and the spread against the New York Giants.

Super Bowl XLII: New York Giants over New England Patriots

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, voted Super Bowl XLII’s Most Valuable Player, lofted a regal, floating 13-yard pass to New York Giants Plaxico Burress over New England Patriots cornerback Ellis Hobbs to put the Giants over the top with 35 seconds left.

New York Giants are nothing if not resilient. Because they were technically the visiting team, New York Giants won their 11th consecutive road game, including all four playoff wins.

New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning, completed 19 of 34 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns. While New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 29 of 48 attempts for 266 yards to go with a touchdown.

The win was especially sweet for New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and wide receiver Amani Toomer, the only holdovers from the 34-7 strafing by the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV. In addition, it was the third Super Bowl victory for one of the league’s most venerable franchises, to go with the Vince Lombardi Trophies won at the end of the 1986 and 1990 seasons.

New York Giants had a dream scenario for the opening drive, their first possession — which consumed nine minutes and 59 seconds and required 16 plays was it. New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning, converted his first three third downs (a first-drive record for Super Bowls), but could not manage a fourth, throwing too far underneath to Steve Smith. Lawrence Tynes, who won the NFC title game with an overtime field goal, hit one from 32 yards out to give the Giants a 3-0 lead.

New England Patriots answered with a similarly muscular drive Laurence Maroney who began things with a 43-yard kickoff return finished it with a 1-yard run three seconds into the second quarter.

In doing so, they ruin the perfect season of the New England Patriots by taking that one win that mattered the most - the Super Bowl championship.

The New York Giants were underdogs to win, and even given a +11 point spread to help their advantage, but it seems that they didn’t need it after they beat the New England Patriots straight up 17-14. The obvious upset makes the New York Giants winners against the spread, and Giants QB Eli Manning gets the Super Bowl XLII MVP award for his awesome performance in leading the Giants to victory.

Super Bowl XLII Betting: Tips For Player Prop Bets On Randy Moss

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

There were rumors leading up to the 2007 NFL Draft that the Patriots and Green Bay Packers were the two teams most interested in acquiring Moss. On April 29, 2007, the Raiders agreed to a trade with the New England Patriots, sending Moss to Foxborough, Massachusetts in exchange for a fourth-round selection (John Bowie), the 110th overall, in the 2007 NFL Draft (the same selection the Patriots acquired from the San Francisco 49ers during day one of the draft). Every week, in addition to out-leaping at least one defender for a touchdown, Randy Moss keeps making incredible one-handed grabs that make you mutter, “How the heck did he come up with that?”. His play with the New England Patriots has led Randy Moss to his sixth Pro Bowl Selection.
