Yep, he’s still down and out.
And just like that, the entire complexion of the 2009 NCAA college football season has changed. Can the Florida Gators remain on top without their prized quarterback? And we thought the injury to Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford was big.
You read it, Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow, regarded by many as the best quarterback in college football today, is out with an injury after getting knocked out in their game against the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend.
Sure, the Florida Gators won the game, 41-7, but after losing Tim Tebow that way that fast, the Gators may have lost a heck of a whole lot than what they gained from beating the Wildcats last Saturday.
With the Florida Gators in control of the game, leading the Kentucky Wildcats 31-7 in the third quarter and driving deep in Kentucky territory, Gators QB Tim Tebow was sacked hard by Wildcats defensive end Taylor Wyndham and as soon as Tebow fell down to the ground, his head hit his teammate Marcus Gilbert’s leg, bending his neck violently.
Ouch.
The 245-pound Tebow lay motionless on the field for several minutes while the crowd fell silent. He sat up with some help then slowly made his way off the field to a loud ovation. Tebow was then carted off the field with concussion – like symptoms, vomiting several times.

College Football Week 5 Betting Tips

And trust us, we have a couple of games that will prove to be good ones.
The 2009 NCAA college football season resumes with a couple of games you shouldn’t miss. Its only Week 5 and already, we’ve seen a lot movement as far as the national rankings are concerned.
First we have the fourth – ranked LSU Tigers visiting the Georgia Bulldogs, becoming the highest-ranked team to visit Athens in 14 years. However, it is safe to assume that the LSU Tigers are in a tough spot. They hardly survived their match against Mississippi State last week and their schedule doesn’t get any easier with a slew of tough SEC opponents ahead.
For what it’s worth, the LSU Tigers thrive on interceptions as they’ve picked up six so far this season, returning two for touchdowns. This Tigers defense is hungry, but it will still come down to stability.
Georgia won last year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana 52-38, and are also sporting a three-game win streak against the Tigers. However, the Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0) had a quieter offensive day last week, holding off Arizona State 20-17 at home, after scoring 52 and 41 points in the previous two games.
Let’s see if they can pick up the scoring against LSU.
The Bulldogs won their last matchup with LSU at Sanford Stadium 26-13 in 2004, still LSU leads the all-time series 14-12-1. Georgia is 9-1 versus SEC West opponents during the past four seasons and 20-5 overall against that division.
The other huge game this weekend is the contest between No.7 USC Trojans and the No.24 California Golden Bears.

Can the Sooners win without Bradford?

They have to, or else, they’re looking at one long season ahead.
In case you didn’t know, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a sprain to his right AC joint, located at the top of his shoulder, to kick off the 2009 NCAA college football season.
That’s right, Sam Bradford, the 2008 Heisman Trophy winner, is out to kick off the Sooner campaign and although the Oklahoma Sooners do not expect Bradford to need surgery on his sprained right shoulder, this is still more than enough reason to be worried.
Head coach Bob Stoops said the initial evaluations by doctors showed that Sam Bradford did not suffer any damage to his collarbone, rotator cuff or other parts of his shoulder when he sprained his AC joint just before halftime in Oklahoma’s 14-13 loss to no.20 BYU.
Yes, they’re trying to project that this injury to their starting quarterback is not that big of a deal and they expect Bradford to be back in four weeks. Wishful thinking perhaps?
For now, the Sooners need to find a quick fix and as far as that is concerned, redshirt freshman Landry Jones wasn’t bad when he filled in for Bradford, give the fact his first college pass came in the third quarter.
Jones seemed ready, having embraced assistant Josh Heupel’s message of preparedness. Asked how the injury might change his life, Jones responded, ”I go from the backup quarterback to now the starter.”
”I thought Landry did a great job in the second half, carried himself great with his demeanor. Everything he did, I thought he handled it as well as you could expect and better,” Stoops said. ”Believe me, in the game, I thought his execution and what he did was good.”

Those guys need to keep up with the Gators first.
Tradition, pageantry and all out excitement will fill the air when the 2009 NCAA college football season kicks off. The anticipation has been building all summer for college football enthusiast around the nation. After such an exciting and competitive year in 2008, the 2009 campaign expects to be even better.
All three Heisman trophy finalists are back including previous winners Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford. Speaking of Tebow, the Florida Gators will be looking for their third national title in the last 4 years and since this will be the last year that Tebow will be playing for Florida, it should be interesting how this one plays out.
As for the teams you should be betting on once the season gets here, it is understandable that the Florida Gators is one of those teams. Two national titles in three years proves that the Gators are on a class of their own. The Gator offense was nearly untouchable in the SEC last season, averaging a lucrative 43 points per game ranking 4th in the nation. The Gators may not have the explosive talent of Percy Harvin back, but Tim Tebow will still have plenty of talented targets in his sights.
Expect wide receiver Riley Cooper to have a breakout year on the outside.
Then we have the Oklahoma Sooners. Sam Bradford deciding to return for his senior season is huge for the Sooners, especially since they lost many of their weapons to the NFL. Oklahoma is going to have to revamp its offensive line and its receiving unit since they lost a couple of running backs as well. If Bradford had decided to bolt for the NFL, things would’ve been worse.
