Manny Pacquiao vs David Diaz for WBC Lightweight Title

Friday, June 27th, 2008

It’s this Saturday as Manny Pacquiao will try to win the WBC Lightweight Championship from David Diaz.

The question is, can Manny Pacquiao beat David Diaz and become the first Asian to win four titles in different weight classes? Diaz has what it takes to shock the world and if the Pacman is not careful, he just might get shocked by the defending champ himself.

Pacquiao will return inside the ring against another Mexican fighter, David Diaz, to fight for Diaz’ WBC Lightweight Championship belt at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Manny Pacquiao vs David DiazThis will be a 12-round bout promoted by Top rank in association with MP Promotions. Manny Pacquiao, the reigning WBC Super Featherweight Champion, (who for some reason climbed up weight class to avoid Juan Manuel Marquez…) calls this bout his toughest battle yet.

‘’This will be my hardest-fought battle,’’ Manny Pacquiao said.

‘’It’s been over three years since I have changed weight divisions and I will be doing it against the lightweight division’s world champion. I saw how he took the fight to Erik Morales in his last title defense and I’m expecting to see the same firepower out of him when we meet. But this is my drive for five. Five world titles in five different weight classes and I will not be denied. I am fighting for history, for destiny and for my people of the Philippines.’’

‘’Manny Pacquiao has beaten many great fighters, especially Mexicans like Morales, Barrera, Marquez, Larios and Solis. That’s why they call him ‘The Mexicutioner.’ I will shock the world and beat Pacquiao at his…

Can David Diaz stop the Manny Pacquiao bandwagon?

Friday, June 20th, 2008

It’s on June 28, when Manny Pacquiao will look to win the WBC Lightweight Championship from David Diaz.

Will a Mexican finally beat who is being dubbed now as ”the Mexecutioner” Manny Pacquiao? We’re hoping David Diaz does just that. He will come into this bout as the reigning WBC Lightweight Champion looking to defend his title from Pacquiao on June 28 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Will a new champion be crowned? Diaz will definitely have other plans.

David ‘’Dangerous’’ Diaz, the current owner of the WBC Lightweight Championship, holds a professional record of 34-1-1, with 17 KOs. He is a former four-time U.S. National amateur champion and 1996 U.S. Olympian, making his debut in November, 1996.

David DiazDiaz won the WBC Interim Lightweight world title in his last fight in August, 2006, with a sensational come-from-behind knockout against defending champion Jose Armando Santa Cruz. The win against Santa Cruz made Diaz the WBC’s mandatory challenger and when no agreement could be reached during the free negotiation period with WBC champion Joel Casamayor, the fight went to a purse offer.

Casamayor’s representatives did not participate and pursued another fight, and Casamayor was stripped of the title. And according to WBC rules, David was to take his place as WBC champ.

Diaz is a lefthander with an aggressive style and good skills. At his best, he keeps a busy pace, pressures his opponents and wears them down. He is tough and durable, possessing above average physical strength. He is always in good condition and has good stamina.

He is an aggressive lefthander who always makes exciting fights. Diaz is undefeated since February, 2005, giving him with all kinds of momentum heading to his…

Manny Pacquiao - Juan Manuel Marquez II is on this Saturday, March 15

Friday, March 14th, 2008

The rematch between Pacquiao and Marquez is on this Saturday.

I don’t know about you but I’ve grown sick and tired of Manny Pacquiao probably because of the way he thinks he’s saving his mother country from every Mexican he comes across inside the ring with.

It’s only boxing. Of course, Pacquiao believes it’s much more than that.

Manny PacquiaoThis Saturday, March 15, Juan Manuel Marquez will have the chance to finally end the notion that he barely escaped from Pacquiao the first time. It’ll be a rematch of their first fight that ended with a controversial draw.

Manny Pacquiao and his legion of fans claim that their first fight should have ended with Pacquiao winning it via decision.

During that fateful first meeting between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao could only come up with punches you’d normally see in a street fight. To me, Marquez won that one systematically.

Sure, Pacquiao’s fighting style is probably exciting to anyone who doesn’t know squat about boxing compared to Marquez’ scientific approach. But exciting a crowd doesn’t win you world championships. That’s why Marquez is wearing the WBC Super Featherweight world title Pacquiao will try to win this Saturday.

The only problem is…
