LeBron to move to Brooklyn and play for the Nets?

Yes people, with still months away from the brand new 2008-09 NBA basketball season, we already have some shocking news for ya’ that just might change the face of the hoops world.

After leading the Cleveland Cavaliers back from obscurity, LeBron James just might opt to join his friend Jay-Z and play in the city he himself ranked as the city he likes best, Brooklyn.

LeBron JamesFor all ya’ll who didn’t know, the New Jersey Nets is moving to Brooklyn and after they traded away Richard Jefferson to the Milwaukee Bucks to free up some salary cap space, the possibility of the Cleveland Cavaliers demi-god playing for the Nets in the city he digs just became more of a possibility.

Yep, you just know the Nets organization is just itching to land probably the biggest commodity next to a Kobe Bryant after freeing up some salary cap space to pay a guy of LeBron’s caliber and if the Nets do pull this off, a three-year, four-year title dynasty for this Nets organization is not that impossible.

‘’My favorite borough? Brooklyn,’’ LeBron James said, choosing the proposed future home of the Nets over the borough of Manhattan, where the Knicks play their home games. ‘’Brooklyn is definitely a great place here in New York City, and some of my best friends are from Brooklyn, so I stick up for them.’’

So where does Cleveland rank in James’ personal list of favorite…

Baron Davis CLIPPED by Los Angeles?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

The road for the 2009 NBA title has really begun now.

With still more than a few months before the brand new 2008-09 NBA basketball season begins, teams have started tweaking their rosters here and there, hoping that they’ll be able to land basketball’s biggest prize next year.

And now that it’s that time of the year when the biggest of NBA stars start asking for bigger paychecks, things will become even busier. One team that has been busier than usual is the Los Angeles Clippers.

Baron DavisWith Elton Brand opting out of the final year of his contract in L.A., it looks like they already have their eyes fixed on a new dog after the guy opted out of his contract as well, Baron Davis. And rumor has it that the Clippers have landed him

You read it right, like Mr. Brand, Baron Davis decided to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Golden State Warriors, an unexpected move to say the least after strong indications last week say that he would not be forfeiting next season’s whopping $17.8 million salary to become an unrestricted free agent.

Well, that’s exactly what he is at this point. That’s why the Clippers have been clamoring for the guy since.

Baron Davis’ agent, Todd Ramasar, said that his agent has always been adamant about remaining a Warrior. Tell that to the Clippers who are trying to land Davis and pair him with Elton Brand. That is if they can sign both guys.

With them trying to sign both guys for the coming season, that’ll mean they no longer have any interest whatsoever in Corey Maggette. After leading the Clippers in scoring most f his career, he also opted out of his contract after seeing his role with the team diminished since Mike Dunleavy took over as…

2008 NBA Draft is on Thursday

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

The road to the 2009 NBA Finals begin.

Because with the 2008 NBA Draft near, teams will start gearing up for the next season ahead in November. Will we see the next sensation in this year’s draft who will upstage LeBron James or will we see another team make a big mistake and watch a rookie be as miserable on the court as Darko Milicic?

The 2008 NBA Draft, slated on June 26 at the world’s most famous arena in Madison Square Garden, is all set. The big question now is, who are this year’s top prospects?

Derrick RoseTo start off, we begin with the possible overall number one pick Michael Beasley, a power-forward from Kansas State who is already making some noise around the NBA. Beasley is touted to be the best outside-inside talent in the draft and he is a sure lock to go No.1 overall.

Beasley will be most likely followed by either Derrick Rose or O.J Mayo. The former, a freshman from Memphis, believed to be the best pure point guard in the draft and arguably the most physically gifted point guard to enter the NBA since Baron Davis.

While the latter, O.J Mayo, a freshman from USC, is perceived by many NBA scouts to have the talent to be a great scorer in the NBA. He is also believed to be one of the best college players to enter the draft.

Other NBA Draft prospects include Jerryd Bayless, a 6-3 point guard from Arizona. He is an athletic guard, putting up big numbers as a freshman at Arizona. While Stanford’s center, Brook Lopez, is perceived by people as a big, athletic center who can produce huge numbers in the NBA like he did in the Pac-10.

Next we have Anthony Randolph, a…

Can Lakers tie 2008 NBA Finals vs Celtics?

Monday, June 16th, 2008

The Lakers won Game 5 with a chance to tie the series in Boston.

The Lakers, facing elimination at home, won Game 5 of the 2008 NBA Finals to force a Game 6 back at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.

The last time the Lakers played the Celtics before Sunday, the Lakers jumped on them right from the get-go, getting a HUGE lead as early as the first quarter and although the Lakers failed to hold on to their lead in Game 4, they managed to hold off the Celtics this time in Game 5.

Kobe BryantYup, just like Game 4, the Los Angeles Lakers jumped on the Celtics in Game 5 as soon as the opening buzzer sounded. They led by as many as 19 points, leading 39-22 after quarter number one.

Of course, after watching the Lakers squander their 24-point lead in Game 4 to lose to the Boston Celtics, Laker fans were not as comfortable with their team’s 39-22 lead at the end of the first quarter of Game 5 as they were back in Game 4. Thankfully, the rest of the Lakers were expecting Boston to make a late rally. And that’s exactly what the Celtics did.

Led by Paul Pierce, the Celtics chipped away the Lakers’ lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Lakers 30-16, to end the first half trailing by only three points, 55-52, thanks to Pierce’s 21 first half points. Looks like the Celtics wanted to end this best-of-seven series right then and there at the Staples Center in El Segundo and after their incredible second quarter rally, Laker fans were nervous.

The Lakers, desperate to force another game back in Boston and keep their season alive, were…

Can Celtics take 3-0 lead over Lakers in 2008 NBA Finals?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Can the Boston Celtics move a game closer to the NBA title?.

Yes, the Celtics are only two wins away from the title in the 2008 NBA Finals when the series resumes in L.A. for Game 3.

The Celtics are probably looking for some vindication for the whole Boston area. It has been a great year in sports for people living in Boston, but still, dominating all these sports disciplines only to win one of the three championship battles they have been in sure is disappointing to say the least.

The Boston area this year, Kevin Garnettjust like the Boston Celtics from the past, have probably grown accustomed to big championship games after the Boston Red Sox beat the crap out of the Colorado Rockies to win the 2007 MLB World Series.

Since then, thanks to the Boston Red Sox, the Boston area was, more often than not, right in the thick of things as far as world championships in sports are concerned. Take the New England Patriots for example. They dominated the NFL last season, winning every single regular season game to overtake the regular season record set by the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

And while Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots were having their way on the football field, the New England Revolution, another professional sports team from the Boston area, was playing in the championship game of the 2007 MLS soccer season against the Houston Dynamo.

The New England Revolution lost to Houston, unfortunately, and after the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII, their ONLY loss in…
