The upcoming February 28 boxing match between former champions Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz is starting to be a good place to put our boxing bets. The bout will be the main event of an HBO televised event in the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Juan Manuel Marquez is heavily favoured in this fight as history alone makes a good statement for the number 2 pound for pound fighter in the world. Next to Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez is a good bet in any of his upcoming fights. The quality of opponents that Juan Manuel Marquez has faced truly proves how good of a fighter he is. Freddie Norwood, Robbie Peden, Manuel Medina, Derrick Gainer, Manny Pacquiao, Marco Antonio Barrera, Chris John, Joel Casamayor, Rocky Juarez and Terdsak Jandaeng are among the notable opponents he has in his illustrious career while holding exceptional wins…
Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao

Can Oscar De La Hoya save boxing?
In case you haven’t heard yet, one prized fighter will collide with someone yet to prove he’s worth all the hype on December 6 at the MGM Mirage in Las Vegas. And in case you didn’t get that, it’s a ‘’Golden Boy’’ Oscar De La Hoya – Manny ‘’the Pacman’’ Pacquiao face-off in what many are calling as the ‘’Dream Match.’’
Dream match? More like mismatch to me. Oscar De La Hoya is obviously the better, more experienced fighter and probably the only way for Manny Pacquiao to pull off a win on this one is run around the ring, avoiding De La Hoya’s right hooks.
Oscar De La Hoya has a career
record of 39 wins with only five losses. 30 of those wins came by way of knockout. However, De La Hoya has declined over the years. His losses came in the last nine years of his career with three of them happening in his last seven fights that spanned from 2003 to 2008, the last one of which against now-retired former WBC super welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
It was a stroke of genius that Pacquiao’s people scheduled a fight against De La Hoya at this point of De La Hoya’s career. Pacquiao has been doing this a lot lately, scheduling a fight against the aging Erik Morales, the retiring Marco Antonio Barrera and a slower and older Juan Manuel Marquez.
This time though, Pacquiao could be walking into a brick wall since De La Hoya will be taking advantage of all kinds of statistical data, from reach to weight, and a fighter of his caliber should be ashamed if he lets a fighter like Pacquiao score a win over him before he walks away from the ring.
Still, being a true fighting champion, the owner of…
De La Hoya V Pacquiao on Dec. 6
Friday, August 29th, 2008
Oscar De La Hoya wants to prove that he’s still the very best.
And for his retirement match, he chose the boxer who has been on a mean streak lately, Manny Pacquiao.
Thursday, the ‘’Golden Boy’’ Oscar De La Hoya officially announced his scheduled bout with the lightweight champ on December 6. If De La Hoya pulls off a win over Pacman, he will be walking away on top like the champion that he is.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum still refuses
to confirm what could be the biggest fight of the century. What he did told everybody is De La Hoya making a big announcement about who’s going to be his next opponent.
‘’We’ll know who is he is fighting tomorrow,’’ Bob Arum said from Youngstown, Ohio, where he was attending a promotional event for the Kelly Pavlik – Bernard Hopkins fight that he is co-promoting with De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.
‘’I made a commitment that I wouldn’t say anything and that tomorrow there would be an announcement. I’m not allowed to make any comments. Everything will be clear on Thursday.’’
Pacquiao has a knack for scheduling bouts with boxers who are either old or retiring, we all saw that when Pacquiao beat a retiring Erik Morales, an aging Marco Antonio Barrera and barely coming up with a win over an older and slower Juan Manuel Marquez despite the fact that I clearly saw the older Mexican winning it.
This scheduled…
Bob Arum considering a Manny Pacquiao-Oscar De La Hoya fight
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008
As of late, Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions is seriously considering the Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya fight that everyone has been questioning him about. Bob Arum hinted that the WBC Lightweight Champion Manny Pacquiao has the chance to fight “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya by the end [...]
Can Marco Antonio Barrera Knockout Manny Pacquiao?
Friday, September 14th, 2007Pac-Man versus The Baby Faced Assassin.
It happened before in 2003, when Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera aka “The Baby-Faced Assassin” slugged it out at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. Manny Pacquiao eventually got the better of Marco Barrera, and Barrera’s corner had to throw in the towel just before the start of [...]
