Connecticut Huskies NCAA FootballThe Buffalo Bulls started the season 2-1 before succumbing to three straight defeats. Despite the losses the Buffalo Bulls rallied by winning five of its final six games to secure the MAC East title and a spot in the conference championship. Not many critics gave the Buffalo Bulls a chance against the unbeaten Ball State Cardinals in the MAC Championship, but they surprised the Ball State Cardinals with a 42-24 victory as heavy 16-point underdogs. The Buffalo Bulls’ defense forced five turnovers and returned two fumbles for touchdowns in the victory, while the offense played efficient football behind quarterback Drew Willy. Buffalo went from an underdeveloped program to conference champion in the last three years, and it is coach Gill who has made it happen. Certainly the Buffalo Bulls won’t be alone in that. The University of Connecticut Huskies coach Randy Edsall is another respected and superb coach. Drew Willy is one of the truly underappreciated quarterbacks in the NCAA. He is closing in on 3,100 passing yards this year and 25 touchdowns with only five interceptions. He leads an offense that really found its stride in the second half of the NCAA Football season and is averaging just less than 36 points per game in their last six.

University of Connecticut Huskies coach Randy Edsall and his team have led the Big East in total defense with 281 yards per game and were third in scoring defense giving up only 19.8 points per game. The problem with the team is that once they give up a big play and got down they lose their composure instantaneously. In three of the University of Connecticut Huskies five losses, their defense gave up 34, 35 and 38 points with the majority of the load coming in the second half. Fortunately for Coach Randy Edsall and the defense of the University of Connecticut Huskies they have a great NCAA football player in running back Donald Brown who has 1,882 yards and 17 touchdowns. Donald Brown is a junior and is the nation’s leading rusher and his combination of power and speed hasn’t been stopped all year. Most would expect a large dose of Brown on Saturday against a Buffalo Bulls’ defense that gave up 158 yards per game on the ground and 27.5 points per game. Connecticut opened up as a 4 ½-point favourite and the number has been pushed up to 6 ½-points at most books. Do not be surprised to see the number close at 7 or more, especially with the NCAA Football gamblers looking at this year’s effort by the Mid-American Conference in bowl games.
