Kobe Bryant versus Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan will always be better than Kobe Bryant no matter what some people sayRecently comparisons with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have been surfacing, and what gets on my nerves is that people are even considering that Kobe Bryant is as of the same level with the great one.

People please…

There is no contest with this comparison. Sure Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen on his side in their 2 NBA Championship runs, but have the critics even considered comparing the rest of the roster the Chicago Bulls had when they won 3 consecutive championships TWICE? Sure they had Dennis Rodman, but his offensive output was more of something to laugh about.

The only thing Kobe Bryant was better at is his outside shooting and nothing more. Kobe won 3 NBA Championships as well yet that was when Shaquille O’Neal was in his prime. Michael Jordan won NBA Finals MVP every time they went to the NBA Finals compared to Kobe Bryant amassing NOTHING. Michael Jordan won NBA titles with Luke Longley and Bill Cartwright at center, the only teams to win an NBA Championship without a dominant center.

Statistics alone have Kobe Bryant climbing a dozen mountains of achievements just to catch up with Michael Jordan. In today’s NBA there are no players yet to change the game compared to how Michael Jordan single handedly developed the imagination of every player in the game today.

Both players are sure to have the ball in the clutch, but most importantly Michael Jordan made every considerable shot that provided to be the most important basket at the time. In the NBA playoffs it is well documented how much Michael Jordan upped his output to godly levels compared to Kobe Bryant loosing some points in his output. Let’s not forget how significantly rougher the NBA was back in the day when Michael Jordan played. The New York Knicks and the original Detroit Pistons Bad Boys would certainly win NBA Championships with ease the way the game is played and officiated today.

Sure thing Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in a single game compared to 63 points that Michael Jordan had in the NBA Playoffs. However what critics seize to forget yet again is that Kobe Bryant scored those 81 points with nobodies guarding him. Michael Jordan had to get past DJ Johnson, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish. The Boston Celtics team considered to be one of their best in franchise history. The NBA back in the day had numerous candidates and Hall of Fame members that this generation lacks.

Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Shaquille O’Neal, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Anfernee Hardaway, Grant Hill, Clyde Drexler, Reggie Miller, Kevin Garnett, James Worthy, Dr. J, John Stockton I could go on and on but today’s NBA is missing quality players like them.

Most importantly they never had the hand check rule back in that era where scoring 37 points a game with NBA games only averaging 90 plus points per outing was harder than turning water into stone. Imaging the person guarding you by pushing you against the direction you are heading and amassing a league leading point output average.

So people please… before you even consider that Kobe Bryant is on the same level of Michael Jordan, get your facts straight and your history in check. However taking nothing away from Kobe Bryant, he certainly is the best player in the NBA in this era.
