Week 2 of the regular season sees a number of notable Games of the Year, including the first-ever regular season game played at the new state-of-the-art facility the Dallas Cowboys now call home.

nfl_bettingWho will help christen the new stadium? The divisional rival New York Giants. This should be a great game. The Cowboys are favored by 2.5 points for the stadium’s regular season debut, and even tough bettors know Romo will drop the ball again at some point, they sure STILL love ‘em Cowboys.

Dating back to 1986, the Cowboys have the edge against the Giants in home games during the month of September, going 4-2 straight up and 5-1 against the spread. Dallas is also very impressive when favored by 4-points or less, going 9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS. In the Giants’ last nine games when underdogs of 4-points or less, they’ve gone 6-3 SU and 7-2 ATS.

Who’d be your pick?

Another game of interest involves the team that made the biggest trade in the offseason, the Chicago Bears. Denver traded QB Jay Cutler and a draft pick to the Chicago Bears for QB Kyle Orton and draft picks.

Cutler and the Bears will be in tough during Week 2 when they host the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers, it’s no surprise that Chicago is listed as a 2-point home underdog.

In their last eight games that they were listed as underdogs of 2-points or less, the Bears are 3-5 ATS. On the other hand, in the last six games that Pittsburgh is favored by 2-points or less, they are only 1-5 ATS.

That doesn’t mean you should throw away some cash and bet on the Bears now do you?
