Detroit Lions aim for better NFL Year?
And since they’re coming off an 0-16 season, accomplishing the feat shouldn’t be much of a burden.
The 2009 NFL football season is still a few more months away and yet, teams have already been busy preparing for the next war to be waged on the football field the moment the Steelers won the world championship back in Tampa.
One team undergoing a major overhaul is the Detroit Lions. Rumors began coming out that the Lions are going for a fiercer, more intimidating look for the coming season probably to help them do better than the laughable 0-16 campaign they suffered last year.
Yes, it has been rumored for a while that the 0-16 Lions would be unveiling a new logo, new colors, and even new uniforms. However, people from the Lions organization were kind of tight-lipped about it, probably because they prefer to reveal their new stuff at a higher-profile time and destination.
Unfortunately, some dude got so excited about his team that he decided to post a model truck for sale on NFL.com sporting the new Detroit Lions logo. It wasn’t until recently that the world found out that the new Lions logo that leaked all over the Internet was actually real.
The Detroit Lions will no longer sport the bland Lion on their uniforms. Instead, they now have this fiercer Lion that has stripes to indicate a mane, better separated paws up front, an eye, (apparently the Lion they had before was blind…) some fangs and a distinguishable crotch.
The Lions will also have this new text logo. They will no longer have the standing straight up font with little embellishments in the middle of the letters that made it look like something you’d see in a saloon in 1893. For the 2009 season, the Lions will have this new italic font that is slightly curvy to make it look like downright aggressive.
The only problem is, the new font STILL reads L-I-O-N-S.
