Dana Stubblefield testifies against steroidsDana Stubblefield who is a four time NFL Pro Bowl lineman who was in the NFL for 11 seasons has been providing information to federal authorities and the NFL concerning steroid use and distribution in the sport of American Football.

Dana Stubblefield who retired in 2003 was condemned in federal court to two years probation for misleading investigators during his testimony in the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative steroids case. Dana Stubblefield is a former defensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders and Washington Redskins. Dana Stubblefield then pleaded guilty last year to misleading authorities about his use of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in which gave him the chance to avoid jail time his cooperation with the investigation. US District Judge Susan Illston said that the sentence was warranted since Dana Stubblefield was “extremely cooperative” with investigators since he was charged last year in January. US District Judge Susan Illston also fined the 1997 defensive player of the year $5,000.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello refused to comment on the whole situation with all the exposure that it has been through. Dana Stubblefield also refused US District Judge Susan Illston’s invitation to comment about the whole steroids situation before he was sentenced and also did not comment outside court.

In a memorandum submitted by the government and federal authorities it is stated that Dana Stubblefield had provided “the names of players, trainers, and others associated with the NFL who may be involved in ongoing activities with illegal drugs in professional football”. Thus making things harder for NFL players who still use steroids or any performance enhancing drugs.
