Bears visit Atlanta on Sunday Night Football

And in this face-off between two of the best young quarterbacks in the league, who’ll have the edge?

That’s right, Week 6 of the 2009 NFL football season continues in the ATL as the birds take on the Bears on Sunday Night Football. Both teams are on a roll with the Falcons bouncing back from their loss to the Patriots in a big way and the Bears winning three straight after starting the year with a loss to Green Bay.

Both the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears have an impressive 3-1 start after four games. And since both of ‘em are still playing catch-up to the Saints and the Vikes, both still undefeated at this point of the season, you can bet your ass that both the Falcons and the Bears want the win on Sunday night.

matt_ryanFor the ATL, they have the fiery second year quarterback in Matt Ryan. He caught the league off guard last season as he led the birds to the kind of year nobody saw coming. You see, the Falcons were suppose to struggle in the post Michael Vick era but thanks to Ryan, he made sure nobody from the ATL will miss No.7.

The Atlanta Falcons rewarded Ryan this season for his exploits last year, getting him arguably the best tight end in the game today in Tony Gonzalez. After four games, Tony G had 19 receptions, 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns. And since the Chicago Bears, judging from their game against the Lions, don’t have a clue how to slow down receiving tight ends, expect Tony G to have a huge game.

However, even though the defense has been slowed down a bit, the Chicago Bears have been compensating at the other side of the ball. Sure their leader on defense, Brian Urlacher is out for the rest of the season, but thanks to their newly acquired quarterback Jay Cutler, the Bears best defense this year is the way they’ve been keeping the ball and scoring with it.

You read it, the Bears are playing good offense this year. Jay Cutler has proven that he is ready to take this team back to the Super Bowl. His receivers are starting to believe in him too, and those receivers are making him look just a notch better on that football field.

Devin Hester for one, improved his play with the arrival of Jay Cutler. Primarily a threat on special teams, Hester has inserted himself on the Bears passing game and with Cutler slinging balls towards his direction, he’s quickly becoming one solid receiver as well.

”When I first got here, they said he didn’t know the playbook, he couldn’t get out of cuts, he had trouble catching the ball,” Cutler said of Hester.

”And all that’s been false since Day One.”

Can Jay Cutler lead the Chicago Bears over the Atlanta Falcons? Bodog sportsbook has the odds.
