2009 NFL Football Week 6 Betting Tips
The NFL is about to spin your betting tendencies like crazy this weekend.
Why? Well, in case you didn’t know, the sixth week of the NFL calendar means the trading deadline is coming and since we are heading to Week 6 of the 2009 NFL football season, expect some struggling teams to make a move or two, each hoping that the moves they make this week will be the difference between winning and losing.
One team in the middle of all these trade rumors? The Buffalo Bills. After five weeks into the season, the Terrell Owens experiment hasn’t been paying off. The Cowboys’ leading receiver last season hasn’t done shit for the Bills this year. After five games, he only has 12 receptions, 202 yards, and one measly touchdown.
As a result, the Buffalo Bills have not fared well this season. They are currently dead last in the AFC East with a disappointing 1-4 record. Good thing the division is still a wide open free for all with Tom Brady and the Patriots still looking for their groove. Unfortunately for them, they have the division leaders this Sunday, the New York Jets.
After the New York Jets lost last Monday night’s divisional game with the Miami Dolphins, those guys probably can’t wait to pound somebody to a pulp all week. The Jets lost on Monday Night Football when the Dolphins beat ‘em using their trademark Wildcat offense on a direct snap to running back Ronnie Brown, giving the Dolphins the go-ahead touchdown with six seconds left en route to the 31-27 win.
And knowing Jets head coach Rex Ryan who makes a living on defense, you can bet your ass that he didn’t like the way Miami’s Wildcat kept on working against them. ”I used to see all those gimmicks when I was coaching back in college,” Ryan said after the game. ”I’ve been a part of some bad performances before on defense, just not this bad.”
Expect the New York Jets to bounce back and beat the struggling Bills by a touchdown.
On Sunday Night Football, we have the Atlanta Falcons hosting the very team looking to get the troubled Terrell Owens on their side, the Chicago Bears. Yep, T.O. could be catching passes from Jay Cutler at the end of the week. But let’s face it, the Bears don’t need the distraction and I expect them to keep what they have right now going, with or without Owens.
The Chicago Bears, after dropping their first game to the Packers, have went on to win three straight. Jay Cutler started making a name for himself against the defending champions Steelers with a 17-14 win over Pittsburgh. Cutler and the Bears haven’t looked back since.
The Atlanta Falcons, on the other hand, bounced back from their loss to the Patriots a few weeks ago, using the bye week they had to regroup before pounding on San Francisco, 45-10. That’s a huge feat considering that the 49ers have one of the best defenses in the league today.
The Bears have a good thing going for them the last few weeks but I expect their three-game winning streak to be snapped by Matt Ryan and the ATL before they start another one. Birds by three.
Last but certainly not the least, we have Brandon Marshall and the Denver Broncos visiting LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers to renew their storied rivalry in the AFC West on Monday Night Football.
Things have changed in the AFC West, the Denver Broncos are now the team to beat while the San Diego Chargers are struggling to keep the ship afloat. It seems it was only yesterday when the Bolts were one of the best teams in the AFC. Reaching the 30-year-old plateau sure can change a lot of things.
LaDainian Tomlinson is yet to prove that he can still play at a high level in his age. The fact that backup Darren Sproles is starting to get most of the snaps ain’t helping L.T. in salvaging what’s left of his career either.
Expect the Denver Broncos to take advantage of San Diego’s struggling running game. Denver by three.
