BetUS.com has Odds on Michael Vick
Friday, August 28th, 2009
After Vick’s solid outing, BetUS.com wants you to know that they already have odds on No.7.
Yes, BetUS.com is primed and ready for the 2009 NFL football season, posting odds on how good or how bad will this Michael Vick experiment do in Philadelphia this year.
And yes, in case you missed it, the Philadelphia Eagles just signed Michael Vick for two years a few days ago. And while majority of their fans just hate the move, those guys really don’t have much of a choice.
The announcement of Vick’s signing with the Philadelphia Eagles has sparked just about every possible emotion from fans across the country, as well as no shortage of speculation as to how his future will play out. This being the case, BetUS.com posted odds on Michael Vick’s return to professional football, as well as what the landscape of other criminal activity will look like this year in the NFL.
”For obvious reasons Michael Vick is currently one of the most polarizing figures in professional sports,” stated BetUS.com spokesman Reed Richards. ”Since his deal with the Eagles was announced our website has been flooded by fans looking for answers, and our oddsmakers were up to the task providing odds on everything from the off-beat to the analytical.”
However, those oddsmakers BetUS.com keeps on talking about might have to wait a little bit since we all know Donovan McNabb is still the starting quarterback in Philly. And to make matters worse, Vick is not even Philadelphia’s backup quarterback.
Yes, Kevin Kolb still has that job, demoting Vick from once the highest paid player in the league to the third string quarterback in Philly. Imagine that huh?
Still, that didn’t stop BetUS.com from…
Is it time to bet on the Patriots again?
Thursday, August 27th, 2009
Well, they have to protect their prized quarterback first.
New England’s campaign last season was ruined after the loss of Tom Brady for the rest of the year. It was a huge disappointment to their fans as the Patriots were coming off a perfect regular season and came close to winning it all in Glendale, Arizona. Witnessing all that momentum shattered in the very first game of the 2008 season with Brady limping off the field, was disheartening to say the least.
Coming to the 2009 NFL football season, Brady is at least, back throwing footballs again and it is in the Patriots’ best interest to keep their guy healthy this time. Brady returns to the same offense that helped the franchise go undefeated, finishing the regular season at 16-0.
Sure, it was two years ago and last season’s run wasn’t as dominant as their unbeatable 2007 regular season campaign. But the fact of the matter is, the New England Patriots only had Tom Brady for just a single quarter last season and he should have no problems making that West Coast offense work wonders again this year.
The big improvements for the Patriots came on defense, particularly in the secondary. Cornerbacks Terrence Wheatley and Jonathon Wilhite return, and are joined by rookie corner Darius Butler and veteran corners Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs.
PLUS, the Patriots added Patrick Chung to an already deep class of young safeties.
As far as Brady’s targets on the field, Randy Moss and Wes Welker will once again be key cogs on the preseason NFL favorite. Welker has dramatically improved after being the favorite target of backup quarterback Matt Cassel last season.
We all know Randy Moss should reclaim his spot as…
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals?
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
We all know the kind of Cinderella run the Cardinals had last year. But will 2009 be the same?
That is the question Arizona Cardinals fans are probably asking themselves with only a few months left before the new 2009 NFL football season kicks off. In a conference dominated by the best division in football, that being the NFC East, the Cardinals came out of the NFC West, arguably one of the worst divisions in pro sports, to come close to winning the biggest prize in pro sports. Go figure.
The Arizona Cardinals, thanks to a rejuvenated Kurt Warner, had probably the best passing game in the NFL last season. Despite that, they couldn’t go past the defense of the Steel Curtain as they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, failing to win what would’ve been the Super Bowl title that could vindicate their franchise.
That’s why the Arizona Cardinals have decided to make some changes, hoping that they can improve where the left off last year.
For starters, the Cardinals now have a new one-two punch in the running game. RBs Beanie Wells and Jason Wright will make a much better running duo than Tim Hightower, who will handle goal line duty, and the departed Edgerin James.
Kurt Warner and backup Matt Leinart will return, giving them good depth at the quarterback position. LB Cody Brown and S Rashad Johnson are great draft picks that should help them establish a young, strong defense for many years.
The Cardinals are almost certain to be better than last year’s version that nearly won the Super Bowl. The only problem they might have this season is Kurt Warner who is 39 years old since the list of QBs who have been successful at that age are limited to no one. Thankfully, Warner has Larry Fitzgerald to keep the passing game interesting, and their opponents, guessing.
Another deep playoff run might require Matt Leinart to…
Betting on Brett Favre and the Vikings?
Monday, August 24th, 2009
Favre coming back is one bit of news we saw coming and decided it might not happen after buying it before probably thinking that it might not happen still.
In case you didn’t get that, we don’t either but that’s exactly what Brett Favre put us through coming to the 2009 NFL football season. You see, after he retired at the end of the season only to talk with the Vikings about a possible comeback before proclaiming that he’ll stay retired only to officially sign with the Vikes a few days later, the first sentence in this story is nothing compared to what Favre put his fans through the last few weeks.
In case you didn’t know, Brett Favre finally signed with the Minnesota Vikings after weeks and weeks of speculation about his imminent comeback to the NFL that many of us thought would never see the light of day.
You see, this entire thing between Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings has been a circus with Favre retiring at the end of the season only to contemplate on a possible comeback in Minnesota.
Then we thought Favre won’t be playing in the 2009 NFL football season after he made it clear that he’ll stay retired THIS TIME. After we heard the news about Favre finally joining the Minnesota Vikings officially, I was personally shocked.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that Favre’s coming back, AGAIN, but for the fourth straight summer, Favre got me again. For once, I really thought I’ve seen the last of Favre. Nevertheless, I’m happy I haven’t seen the last of him yet.
With Favre joining the Vikings and making his return to the NFC North, that instantly makes Minnesota the favorite to win the decision. Oh yeah, those rivalry games between the Vikes and the Green Bay Packers should even be more interesting with Favre now at the other side of the fence.
Of course, sportsbooks have already taken advantage…
Can Michael Vick help the Eagles?
Thursday, August 20th, 2009
Michael Vick’s comeback has officially begun.
And while Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid will still probably start Donovan McNabb in the coming 2009 NFL football season, the Eagles signing Vick is a surprise considering that these guys already have McNabb, why in the hell would they need a Michael Vick who pretty much plays the exact same way as McNabb?
I reckon this will only create tension between the Eagles organization and Donovan McNabb. Last season, he had a taste of what it feels like to be unappreciated when Reid benched him for a game. Now that Vick is on board, feeling unappreciated should be the last thing McNabb should be worried about.
Then again, Michael Vick stealing the starting QB spot from McNabb is as close as Shaq making two free throws in a row. We all know that McNabb is the man in Philadelphia and unless they sign Terrell Owens back, it’ll stay that way for at least a couple more years.
So how bad did the Philadelphia Eagles wanted Vick? They are willing to pay him $1.6 million for the first year with an option for the second year at $5.2 million. And considering that the guy has been away from football for a while, the Eagles are definitely risking a lot for this Michael Vick experiment to work.
Michael Vick was taken No.1 overall by the Atlanta Falcons back in the 2001 NFL Draft. He lived up to the hype by becoming the most explosive player in the NFL, (not necessarily effective but he sure brings asses to seats…) earning himself the billing of the highest-paid player in football.
It all came to a halt in 2006 when he was accused of running an illegal pitbull dogfighting operation. He was convicted in August 2007, sentenced for 23 months in federal prison and suspended indefinitely by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
After he was released from home confinement…
