Brock LesnarUFC 81 Breaking Point - It’s happening on February 2, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, just 1 day before Super Bowl XLII.

Mixed Martial Arts fighters are going to try and knock each other out in yet another installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship with UFC 81 Breaking Point. Among the featured main cards in UFC 81 will be a fight for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship of Tim Sylvia vs. Antonio Rodgriho Nogueira. But the one that MMA and UFC fans are thrilled to watch is the one between former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.

Bet on Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesnar

Odds on the UFC 81 match of Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesnar are as follows:

Brock Lesnar 2/3

Frank Mir 6/5

Former UFC heavyweight Champion Frank Mir (10-3 UFC record) is one awesome MMA fighter. Frank Mir entered the UFC back in UFC 34 High Voltage where he defeated Roberto Travern by an armbar in the first minute of the first round. After that, Frank Mir defeated Pete Williams via a shoulder lock submission in less than a minute of the first round during UFC 36 World Collide. One of Frank Mir’s legendary matches was a 46-second submission of David “Tank” Abbott at UFC 41 Onslaught, where Mir submitted Tank Abbott with a toe hold. A few more matches after and Frank Mir found himself competing for Tim Sylvia for the vacant UFC Heavyweight Title during UFC 48 Payback, and in less than a minute, the referee had to stop the fight because Frank Mir’s armbar had broken Tim Sylvia’s right forearm to give him the title.

Unfortunately, Frank Mir suffered a motorcycle accident that broke his femur and tore all the ligaments in his knee. After some major surgery and some therapy, and after 14 months of not entering the octagon, Frank Mir eventually had to be stripped off the title. Mir had since recovered and fought a few matches, beginning with his comeback at UFC 57 Liddell vs. Couture 3, but he hasn’t found the winning form he once had prior to the motorcycle accident. Frank Mir has lost 5 of his last 6 matches in various other MMA tournaments and MMA events, and only booked a recent win on his 6th match when he won via Kimura against Antoni Hardonk during UFC 74.

With the upcoming fight against Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir is hoping to get back on the win streak, and maybe do well enough to earn another shot at the UFC Heavyweight Title. But first, he’s got to get past Brock Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar is making his debut fight in the UFC against Frank Mir in what is set to be a very much-anticipated first fight. After all, Brock Lesnar is a popular household name because of his WWE fame as a former WWE Champion. Of course, while the WWE might seem like child’s play and a men’s soap opera entertainment show, it doesn’t mean that the professional wrestlers of the WWE are sissies compared to MMA fighters. Certainly, no one would dare tell that to Brock Lesnar, who is a former NCAA Heavyweight Wrestling Champion.

Of course, while Brock Lesnar may seem like a seasoned wrestler because of his many TV appearances and big fights for the WWE, he certainly does lack octagon experience. His only MMA fight was with K-1 Dynamite! where he submitted Min Soo Kim via strikes in under two minutes.

Now, Brock Lesnar may seem like the healthier fighter than Frank Mir, considering Frank Mir has had some major surgery done to his knee, but Frank Mir is one tough SOB, and a seasoned veteran of the UFC. Much hype is being given to Brock Lesnar because of his WWE fame, and maybe many are hoping to see Brock Lesnar give Frank Mir an F-5 or a Brock Lock.

It is not certain why MMA odds makers picked Brock Lesnar as a favorite. Certainly, Brock Lesnar’s impressive win record for scripted professional wrestling matches of the WWE doesn’t really count as actual fight success even if it’s against huge guys like The Undertaker, The Big Show, Kurt Angle or John Cena. Seriously now, MMA is quite different.

However, Brock Lesnar is athletic and is capable of so much more even though many have just seen the entertaining side of Brock Lesnar’s wrestling and fighting talents. Well, whatever it is, Brock Lesnar has his shot to prove critics wrong, and to show that he is the real-deal all-around fighter who can whoop ass wherever you put him. It definitely would be a great treat to witness Brock Lesnar winning by submission due to a Brock Lock or winning by KO because of an F-5.

One sure bet for UFC 81 Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir is that there won’t be any professional wrestlers suddenly charging into the octagon with a chair to whack Big John McCarthy, then whack Frank Mir, then throw Brock Lesnar over Frank Mir while Big John gets to his senses and counts out Mir for a three-count pin. Last I remember from the WWE, Brock Lesnar was down and out from a Stone Cold Stunner by no less than Stone Cold Steve Austin.
