NCAA Basketball Betting Results: Duke Blue Devils over Virginia Cavaliers 87-65

duke-over-virginia.jpgDuke Blue Devils breezed past Virginia Cavaliers 87-65 Sunday night to improve their record 13-1 in the 2007-2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball.

Duke Blue Devils guard DeMarcus Nelson scored 20 points and waxed hot from downtown who went 3-of-4 from 3-point range and. Duke Blue Devils has won 10 of 11 in the series.

“We knew that they were a 3-point shooting team, especially in transition,” Blue Devils guard DeMarcus Nelson said. “We felt they were going to take a lot of 3s, so our job was just to rebound those long misses when they did occur, and then push it, because we knew that their defensive balance was going to be bad [by] taking perimeter shots.”

Duke Blue Devils limited the Virginia Cavaliers, a 40 percent shooting team from long range, to just 4-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc and held a 35-34 advantage on the glass against a Virginia team that entered out rebounding its opponents by 12.4 per game.

Virginia Cavaliers guard Sean Singletary scored 18 points and Cavaliers’ guard Calvin Baker added 13 for Virginia (10-4, 0-1), which was denied its first victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium since a double-overtime victory in 1995. Its four-game winning streak against ranked teams also was snapped.

Virginia Cavaliers guard/forward Mamadi Diane added 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting for the Cavaliers, who turned it over 19 times.

Guard DeMarcus Nelson and Duke Blue Devils will go up against Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday, and then have a three-day lay-off then visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Sunday night.
