The frustrated New Orleans Hornets were led by Jannero Pargo with 24 points. Peja Stojakovik and David West scored 12 each and Tyson Chandler had 11 rebounds for the Hornets. The New Orleans Hornets unfavorably lost its third in a row.

The Utah Jazz passed on Chris Paul for Deron Williams with the No. 3 pick in the 2005 draft. Chris Paul went to the New Orleans Hornets with the next pick and the two point guards have been compared ever since. Deron Williams definitely had the better game Monday. He scored 12 in the third quarter as the Utah Jazz stretched an 11-point lead to as much as 22.

The winning streak by the Utah Jazz gave them the edge to win against the spread, covering the -4 point spread given by the NBA oddsmakers. The big margin gave the Utah Jazz the opportunity to advance their record to 31-18 while the New Orleans Hornets drop to a record of 32-15.
