Derek Fisher matched a season high with 28 points to lead the LA Lakers, who improved to 3-1 on their nine-game road trip. Kobe Bryant shot 3-of-13 from the floor but had eight assists in his lowest-scoring effort since an eight-point game against the Denver Nuggets on Jan. 5, 2007. He seemed to work well with Pau Gasol, who was 10-of-15 and showed he may help the LA Lakers get by just fine until Andrew Bynum returns from his knee injury.

Vince Carter scored 27 points for the New Jersey Nets, who trailed by only three points midway through the fourth quarter before Pau Gasol of the LA Lakers keyed the decisive surge. Bostjan Nachbar had a double-double stint with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Richard Jefferson scored 12 points and Jason Kidd who also made a double-double performance gave 11 points and 10 assists for the New Jersey Nets.

The LA Lakers were given a -7.5 point spread by the NBA oddsmakers, but with their victory, the LA Lakers game against the New Jersey Nets was also a victory against the spread. The defeated New Jersey Nets made their record worse at 20-28 while the triumphant LA Lakers made it to a record of 31-16 this 2007-08 NBA regular season.
