Can the Patriots win without Brady?

In case you haven’t heard yet, Tom Brady is out for the rest of the season.

While Pats fans continue to hope for a miracle that Tom Brady will still show up and be able to play in the 2008-09 NFL football season, we learned that No.12 being out for the remainder of the year after only Week 1 was made official.

This is probably the time to mourn Pats fans. Tom Brady, last season’s Most Valuable Player, is now ruled officially out for the remainder of the season after suffering a nasty injury on his left knee in their very first game of the year.

Playing a season after they were shocked by the New York Giants at Super Bowl XLII, the New England Patriots were coming in the brand new year still the heavy favorites to win it all. After this injury, these Pats won’t be favorites to win anything.

Playing against the Kansas City Chiefs, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had his knee collapse under him when he was hit by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard in the first quarter. For what it’s worth, the Pats won the game 17-10 to get their season going but you have the sense that the Pats still lost, BIG TIME.

Thanks to Bernard Pollard of course, who had his hit against Brady now being dubbed as dirty.

The Patriots organization, for some reason, remains confident about their team’s chances this season. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, in particular, still doesn’t believe the injury is that big of a deal to his team, to the extent that he could be dissing his prized quarterback already.

‘’As a team we all just have to do our jobs. That really doesn’t change,’’ New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said. ‘’He played one position, he played it very well. We have somebody else playing that position now.’’

And since these Patriots have a history for successfully finding somebody else run Belichick’s plays whenever an injury hits their starting quarterback, Brady has to feel dissed after his head coach’s words.

In case you forgot already, then starting Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe also suffered an injury that kept him out for an entire season. The Pats got a virtual unknown to replace him, eventually winning the Super Bowl in that same season. Who was the guy?

Yes, it was Tom Brady.
