Can Tebow win the Heisman again?
Thursday, December 11th, 2008
The Heisman, is Tim Tebow really the huge favorite to win it?
The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award is considered as the most prestigious award in American college football. The Heisman is given annually to the top football player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). And since the 2008 NCAA college football season is almost done, we’ll discuss who will be challenging Florida’s Tim Tebow for that piece of hardware.
Starting off with Sam Bradford, this guy is a talented Big 12 quarterback who should be at the top of anybody’s ballot after he out dueled Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell in a 65-21 rout in Norman.
Bradford has been the model of consistency all season for the Oklahoma Sooners, completing 68.2 percent of his passes with 42 touchdowns and only six interceptions. His only blemish has been tossing two interceptions in a 45-35 loss to Texas on Oct.11. Bradford has been one of the better quarterbacks in college football all season, and the numbers prove it; 3,710 passing yards, 42 touchdowns, 4 rushing touchdowns.
Next up is Colt McCoy of the Texas Longhorns.
Colt McCoy is an inspiring leader. He’s a phenomenal quarterback and his team might end up winning the national championship because of him. But the fact is, his production does not compare to his Big 12 South rivals, but that doesn’t mean his numbers aren’t impressive. For the year, he’s got 3,134 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and 8 rushing touchdowns.
McCoy is one of only three quarterbacks playing at FBS schools who have passed for more than 3,000 yards and ran for more than 500 this season. (Rice’s Chase Clement and Illinois’ Juice Williams are the two others.) McCoy has…
Tour de France has Lance Armstrong
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008
Lance Armstrong is on his way to a comeback.
Lance Armstrong, probably the most popular cyclist in the United States, will ride the 2009 Tour de France after a long hiatus from the sport.
The Tour begins on the 4th of July and Lance Armstrong, probably celebrating his own Independence Day after finally ending his relationship with the singer Sheryl Crow, figured getting his ass back on a bicycle is the best way to let the rest of the world know that he’s back running his life. Hee hee.
‘’If you’ve been away for three or four years, it would be silly for anybody to think I could pick up where I left off,’’ Lance Armstrong said in a telephone interview from Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
‘’I can tell you I feel better than ever, I feel stronger than ever on Dec. 1. How that translates to racing, we’ll have to see. Mentally, in terms of motivation, this feels like 1998-1999 to me.’’
Armstrong, who’ll likely join 2007 Tour champion Alberto Contador in the Astana team, will be a part of one of the most star-studded lineups in France. Joining Armstrong and Contador is Germany’s Andreas Kloeden, American veteran Levi Leipheimer and top support rider Yaroslav Popovych.
The Astana cycling team, now considered by far the strongest multistage team EVER, is so ridiculously powerful they might as well get the 2009 Tour De France title handed over to them before July 4.
With Armstrong returning to the sport that made him famous, he will have the opportunity to add another title to…
2008 College Football Week 15 Tips

Conference Championships, rivalry matchups, BCS considerations – Week 15 of the college football season is stacked with huge games.
We are one step away from Bowl season and this weekend’s results will have a big impact on how the bowl schedule shakes out.
The game that has the most bearing on the BCS bowl games is the SEC title game between the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and the No. 4 Florida Gators—the respective SEC West and East champs, with all kinds of sports betting lines favoring the Gators by 10-points.
The game will be played on neutral territory at the Georgia Dome. Dating back to 1996, the two teams have been even straight up, going 3-3, while the Florida Gators have gone 2-4 ATS against Alabama, including four straight ATS losses in a row.
That said, the gators have not been a bankroll drain when favored by more than 8-points, as they boast a mark of 5-0 SU and a perfect 5-0 ATS the last five times they have been in this situation.
On the other side, Alabama has not been good at winning games when a dog of +8 or more, going 0-7 SU. However, they are a marginally profitable 4-3 ATS in that span, but it is worth highlighting that they have gone 4-0 ATS in the last four in this spot.
SportsBetting.com players are placing their chips on the Gators, as 64% of the betting action is coming in on Florida.
Another conference championship worth noting will feature the No. 20 Missouri Tigers taking on the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners for the Big 12 title. OU is a steep 16.5-point…
Oscar De La Hoya will beat Pacquiao
Friday, December 5th, 2008
Because it’s personal to the Golden Boy.
It’s ON this Saturday, when the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada features the Oscar De La Hoya – Manny Pacquiao fight, a bout being dubbed as the ‘’dream match.’’
And as stated, yes, it’s personal for ‘’the Golden Boy’’ Oscar De La Hoya. He probably feels too that it’s his responsibility to save the sport from guys like Pacquiao who don’t know squat about boxing and just prey on boxers who are either retiring or simply too old to return to the ring.
Of course, De La Hoya has all the reasons to end the career of ‘’the Pacman’’ Manny Pacquiao too. Aside from bastardizing the name of one of the greatest franchises in video game history, Pacquiao doesn’t care about the sport at all. To this guy, it’s just all about money. And while he pretends to be a man of integrity, what happened back in 2006 between De La Hoya and Pacquiao simply suggests that he is anything but trustworthy.
For all ya’ll uninformed, the Pacman double-crossed De La Hoya’s Golden Boy promotions when Pacquiao turned his back on what De La Hoya thought was a done deal between the two. Pacquiao ended up signing with promoter Bob Arum instead for probably a bigger contract.
Of course, De La Hoya was disappointed. There he was ready to take a fighter like Pacquiao under his wing and finally get this guy some people to teach him how to fight like a true boxer for a change and he ended up getting stabbed in the back.
‘’When he looked into my eyes and I looked into his eyes…”
2008 NFL Week 14 Betting Tips
Friday, December 5th, 2008
It’s time for another weekend of football, and just like any other weekend, this Sunday’s schedule promises to be a good one.
Week 14 of the 2008-09 NFL football season begins slowly on a Thursday night when the league features two teams struggling at this point of the year. The Chargers, losers of their last three games, will play hosts to the Raiders, losers of the last three years, when the NFL kicks-off the brand new week exclusively for people who subscribed to the NFL Network.
The San Diego Chargers haven’t had a losing season in five years. It’s been just as long since their last loss to the Oakland Raiders. The Chargers, possibly the most disappointing team of the season, want to make sure neither of those streaks end Thursday night, as they host the Raiders, looking to avoid putting their slim playoff hopes at risk this weekend.
That’s why the San Diego Chargers can’t afford to lose to the Raiders on Thursday. We’re picking them by seven.
With a one-game lead in the NFC North, the Minnesota Vikings need every victory they can get to remain atop the division. Having a pair of Pro Bowl defensive linemen on the field certainly can’t hurt their cause. After a Minnesota judge issued a temporary restraining order this week blocking their league suspensions, Kevin and Pat Williams will likely be available for the Vikings this Sunday against the winless Detroit Lions. The Vikings have won 12 of their past 13 meetings with the Lions overall and if you’re betting on this game, avoid the 0-12 Lions at all cost.
Minnesota Vikings by 14.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is probably getting blamed more than he deserves for the Cheeseheads’ problems lately. Matt Schaub, meanwhile, can’t take any credit for two straight surprising wins for the Houston Texans. Both of these guys will…
