Manny Pacquiao - Juan Manuel Marquez II is on this Saturday, March 15

Friday, March 14th, 2008

The rematch between Pacquiao and Marquez is on this Saturday.

I don’t know about you but I’ve grown sick and tired of Manny Pacquiao probably because of the way he thinks he’s saving his mother country from every Mexican he comes across inside the ring with.

It’s only boxing. Of course, Pacquiao believes it’s much more than that.

Manny PacquiaoThis Saturday, March 15, Juan Manuel Marquez will have the chance to finally end the notion that he barely escaped from Pacquiao the first time. It’ll be a rematch of their first fight that ended with a controversial draw.

Manny Pacquiao and his legion of fans claim that their first fight should have ended with Pacquiao winning it via decision.

During that fateful first meeting between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao could only come up with punches you’d normally see in a street fight. To me, Marquez won that one systematically.

Sure, Pacquiao’s fighting style is probably exciting to anyone who doesn’t know squat about boxing compared to Marquez’ scientific approach. But exciting a crowd doesn’t win you world championships. That’s why Marquez is wearing the WBC Super Featherweight world title Pacquiao will try to win this Saturday.

The only problem is…

2008 March Madness Betting Tips

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Memphis, UCLA, Tennessee, North Carolina and Duke are the teams to beat at this point of the season.

As the 2008 NCAA college basketball regular season winds down and conference tournaments tip off, North Carolina, Memphis, UCLA, Tennessee, Kansas, Duke, Stanford, Xavier, Texas and Wisconsin became the top ten teams this year and it looks like there will be no easy picks.

Most of these teams have very long standing traditions specifically in basketball. With this being said then we know how much hard work goes in and out of these schools gyms.

Mike KrzyzewskiOne of the most impressive players this year comes from Kansas State in the name of Michael Beasley. A player averaging 12.6 Rebounds, 26.7 Points, 1.6 Steals and 1.4 blocks a game who by far has the potential to be dominant in the professional league as well.

Not far behind is Tyler Hansbrough from North Carolina averaging 10.4 rebounds, 1.6 Steals and 23.4 points a contest. Not to shabby on his 2nd year at the helm of the Tar Heels. Being next in voting to J.J. Redick last year for the ACC player of the year has to bring pressure this time around, naturally Tyler is taking it head on.

Another impressive year as usual and kudos to one of the best coaches in basketball history is Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Another year and another team rich in teamwork and fast paced offensive dominance. The team embracing the 3-point shot this year is another marvel. Add to the fact that Cameron Indoor Stadium is one of the…

George Mason and their surprising March Madness saga

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Can this Cinderella team of 2006 shock all of us again?

With merely a few more days before the 2008 March Madness bracket tournament begin, we remember the George Mason Patriots and their climb towards the NCAA Final Four two years ago.

The George Mason Patriots shocked the rest of the world, LITERALLY, in 2006 when they went all the way to the NCAA Final Four. Although they lost to the Florida Gators that year, their Final Four stint instantly let them become ‘’superstars’’ of their own campus.

George Mason PatriotsThis year though, the George Mason Patriots are 20-9 and are ranked 72nd. As expected, all that fanfare they generated a couple of years ago died down a bit and for some reason, this particular Patriot, one of two remaining starters from the fabled George Mason Final Four team, likes it just the way it is.

Patriots forward Will Thomas, two years ago, would always have a pen beside his plate ready to sign autographs whenever he dines at the campus cafeteria for the fans their team generated in…
