The Big 12 has a Triple Threat for March Madness
The Big 12 is due. Not since the national title run made by Kansas in 1988 has a team in the conference rejoiced the ultimate shining moment.
That could change this season. With three championship-caliber teams headed to the NCAA Tournament, the Big 12 is in as good a position as any major conference to claim a title.
No. 2 Kansas, No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 15 Texas combine to form a triple threat that makes the Big 12’s contingent in March Madness a deadly group.
The Big East may get eight teams into March Madness and the ACC will thump on about its perennial excellence, but the Big 12 is the league capable of having the most teams playing in the tournament’s second weekend.
That’s why the games not to be missed during championship week will be the semifinals and finals in Oklahoma City.
The Big 12, though, is about competitiveness. These three teams push each other, their stars elevate their games when they’re on the floor together. Acie Law IV is better because he has to keep up with Durant; Durant is better because he has to focus on a way to beat Julian Wright.
