Sri Lanka are now clear 3/1 second favourites for the World Cup after all but securing their place in the last four with victory over New Zealand.

A close contest was a2007 Cricket World Cup Oddsnticipated in Grenada but Sri Lanka were always on the front foot after taking early wickets and restricting the Kiwis to 219.

And, as expected, that total proved woefully inadequate as Sri Lanka cruised home by six wickets with 29 balls to spare.

New Zealand, who held a 100% record before Thursday’s defeat, are out to 5/1 at Bodog.

The Kiwis are still fancied to reach the semis but face South Africa and Australia in their final two games and if they lose both and other results go against them, Stephen Fleming’s men could yet be eliminated.

Odds make Australia the Even money favourites to lift the trophy with Sri Lanka 3/1 and New Zealand 9/2 alongside South Africa.

England, the only other side with a realistic chance of making the semi-finals, are 20/1.

Sanath Jayasuriya is now 12/1 from 20/1 atBodog to finish top tournament runscorer after his knock of 64 in Grenada took his tally to 367.

Jacques Kallis leads the way on 441, just in front of Matt Hayden on 436.

Hayden heads the betting at 11/8 ahead of Kallis at 3/1.

2007 CricketWorld Cup Prediction: There are good players in the Australian squad and perhaps they will blossom in the spotlight, but for us there is too much uncertainty to be seriously considering backing them.
