Ohio State beats Georgetown to advance to NCAA Finals
In Final Four action Saturday, Ohio State University defeated Georgetown 67-60 to advance to its first national title game since 1962.
Mike Conley Jr. finished with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds to lead the Buckeyes to their 22nd straight win. Greg Oden added 13 points, all in the second half, including eight rebounds in 20 minutes.
Jonathan Wallace scored 19 points for the Hoyas, who were playing in their first Final Four since 1985. They were struggling without Roy Hibbert, who was hampered by foul trouble and only managed to score 19 and six rebounds before leaving the game early in the second half.
The loss was only the second in 21 games for the Hoyas. And it spoiled John Thompson III’s attempt to lead Georgetown to a title just as his father did in 1984.
Ohio State will meet either defending champion Florida Gators for the title in Atlanta on Monday.
