Tuesday, September 25th, 2007 at 12:12 pm

It’s a neck-to-neck championship race for the American League East Division between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. As of late, the Boston Red Sox have a record of 92 wins and 64 losses that gives them a 2 game lead over the New York Yankees whose record is 90 wins and 66 losses. However, there are still 6 games left in the 2007 Major League Baseball regular season.Boston Red Sox Celebrate Win Over Tampa Bay.

The Boston Red Sox will be hosting a 2-game series at Boston’s Fenway Park against American League West team Oakland Athletics starting Tuesday, September 25th. Then, their last series of the 2007 MLB Regular Season will be a 4-gamer also at their home field at Boston’s Fenway Park against AL Central team Minnesota Twins starting on Thursday September 27th.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees will have the more difficult task of playing away when they go for a 3-game series against AL East Division mates Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Tampa Bay, starting Tuesday, September 25. Afterwards, the Yankees have to travel to Baltimore for a 3-game series with another AL East Division mate, the Baltimore Orioles.

6 more games left in the 2007 MLB regular season, and still a lot of math left in the win column in order to determine who will be the 2007 American League East Division champions - The Boston Red Sox or The New York Yankees.

Meanwhile, American League Central’s Detroit Tigers, who have a record of 85 wins and 71 losses, are hoping to close out their season with 5 wins in their remaining 5 games of the 2007 MLB regular season if they are to have any chance of making the wild card. Of course, that’s considering the Yankees don’t win any of their 6 remaining regular season games. These odds may seem highly improbable for the Detroit Tigers, but it’s not mathematically impossible.

What remains certain, however, in the American League is that the American League West Division Champions are the Los Angeles Angels, whose 92 wins and 64 losses is 8.5 games ahead of AL West runner-up Seattle Mariners. Another certainty is that the Cleveland Indians are the Champions of the American League Central Division, finishing the season with 92 wins and 63 losses, 7.5 games ahead of AL Central runner-up Detroit Tigers.
