YI vs. YAO!
Two Chinese Superstars will collide Friday night at the Toyota Center as the Houston Rockets host the visiting Milwaukee Bucks for the 2007-2008 NBA regular season.
Houston Rockets Chinese center Yao Ming will test the mettle of young Milwaukee Bucks rookie forward Yi Jianlian, who was drafted sixth overall in last June’s 2007 NBA draft.
Tracy McGrady will lead the Houston Rockets, the former scoring champ is averaging a league best 32.3 points and 4.2 assists per ball game alongside with the help of Rockets center Yao Ming. Rockets needs to get the support of other starters Houston’s Rafer Alston and defensive specialist Rockets forward Shane Battier.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks would still jump on the back of rookie sensation Yi Jianlian who is averaging 9 points per game and collaring 5 rebounds. Bucks sweet shooting guard Michael Redd, averaging a team high 24 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game will have a hands full when they visit the Houston Rockets.
Milwaukee Bucks high flying guard Desmond Mason is back with the team, the Bucks signed the 30-year-old swingman Desmond Mason to multi-year contract, reuniting him with a community that embraced him and his family during his first membership on the team spanning 2003-05.
Milwaukee Bucks General Manager Larry Harris and Bucks Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak both expressed excitement at having Mason back in the Milwaukee’s fold.
“We’re happy to welcome Desmond back to Milwaukee,” Bucks General Manager Harris said “He was a fan favorite during his first stay, and we know our fans are going to love having him back on the team. Adding him to our roster boosts our athleticism, defense and veteran leadership. And in addition to his basketball abilities, we look forward to what he will bring back to the Milwaukee community.”
This will be a close game if the Milwaukee Bucks can contain Houston Rockets Yao Ming, Rockets guard Tracy McGrady and Bucks guard Michael Redd will cancel each other out in terms of points.
