However, Ray Allen also committed the foul in the last second that sent Detrot Pistons guard Chauncey Billups to the free throw line. With no time left on the clock, Chauncey Billups sank both free throws to win the game for the Detroit Pistons 87-85 in controversial fashion.
The Detroit Pistons were led by the game-high 28 points and game-high 8 assists of Chauncey Billups. Detroit’s Rip Hamilton added 21 points, and forward Antonio McDyess had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Boston Celtics were led by the double-double of Kevin Garnett who had 26 points and 12 rebounds. Ray Allen added 24 points while Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo contributed 14 points and 7 assists.
The Detroit Pistons improve their NBA record to 18-7 while the Boston Celtics take a slump to 20-3, but still maintain the best NBA record so far this 2007-08 NBA regular season.
The Boston Celtics will host Ben Wallace and the Chicago Bulls on December 21 before hosting Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic on December 23. The Detroit Pistons will host Pau Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies on December 21 before hosting Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets on December 23.
