Lewis Hamilton: 2007 Formula One World Champion!
We have yet to wait for the final results of the 2007 Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix to finish at the end of October, but then we looked at the numbers, and the odds are in favor of British driver Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes to win the 2007 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. After all, Lewis Hamilton is already ahead in the point standings of the Drivers’ Championship with 107 points, and his nearest competitors are McLaren-Mercedes F1 driver Fernando Alonso with 103 points and Ferrari F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen with 100 points.
For Lewis Hamilton to lose the Drivers’ Championship, it would take another elimination just as what happened in the last race at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, China. In the Chinese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton encountered car problems and had to retire, and not being able to earn any points to improve his lead and possibly be crowned as 2the 2007 World Champion. Instead, Lewis Hamilton has to race it out in the 2007 Brazilian F1 Grand Prix, and definitely he will have some pressure from the likes of team mate Fernando Alonso, who is looking for his third World Championship, having won the 2005 and 2006 World Championship driving for Renault.
Of course, the math doesn’t negate any improbabilities. In fact, there are still 10 points up for grabs for a first place podium finish at the 2007 F1 Brazilian Grand Prix, and Fernando Alonso could collect all those ten points to improve his total to 113, 6 points above Lewis Hamilton. However, Fernando Alonso has to hope that Lewis Hamilton doesn’t get any points, or at least finish 4th place or lower. If Lewis Hamilton makes a trip to the podium, then certainly he will become the 2007 World Champion.
As for Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, he will need something short of a miracle. Maybe the F1 racing gods will be adventurous enough to have something unfortunate happen to the McLaren-Mercedes cars for Kimi Raikkonen to overtake both McLaren drivers.
In any case, we’ll all find out what happens in the 2007 F1 Brazilian Grand Prix.
