Kentucky Derby Odds continue to favor Curlin
What to make of Kentucky Derby favorite Curlin?
That’s what horse racing bettors will be thinking leading up to the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby, which will take place Saturday at Churchill Downs in Lexington, Ky.
Curlin is the 3/1 favorite in one of the most wide-open fields in recent memory. He has history on his side in one way and against
him in another. Curlin won the Arkansas Derby, a proven test for previous winners at Churchill Downs.
But Curlin never ran as a two-year-old and not since 1882 has a horse won the Kentucky Derby after going unraced the previous year. Plus, his win in Arkansas was tainted because of the lack of quality competition in the field.
Still, he seems the best in a weak crop of thoroughbreds aiming to hit the finish line first in the Run for the Roses.
His toughest competition figures to come from Street Sense, whose Kentucky Derby odds are 6/1.
