Kansas Jayhawks bags Big 12 crown vs Texas in OT

The Kansas s Jayhawks showed its Big 12 conference rival it has a capable freshman of its own.

Behind 20 points from Sherron Collins, No. 2 Kansas rallied from a 22-point first-half deficit to again stump Kevin Durant and No. 15 Texas.

Kansas Jayhawks beat TexasThe Jayhawks claimed their second straight Big 12 title when they beat the Longhorns 88-84 in overtime at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. Underdog Texas did beat the 7.5-point spread.

While Durant put up 37 points and 10 rebounds, Kansas spread its offense around as it chipped away at the Longhorns’ lead and eventually took the lead late in the second half.

Along with Collins’ team-high total, the Jayhawks also got 19 points from both Julian Wright and Brandon Rush and 17 from Mario Chalmers.

In overtime, role players Darnell Jackson and Russell Robinson hit free throws to seal the win, which came eight days after the Jayhawks edged the Longhorns 90-86 in the regular-season finale.
