Espanyol are odds on favorites to win 2007 UEFA Cup
Primera Liga side Espanyol are the new 5/4 favourites with Sports Interaction to win the UEFA Cup after scoring a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium.
Moises Hurtado, Walter Pandiani and substitute Fernando Corominas scored the goals for the Catalans - finalists in 1988 - as Werder finished the game with 10 men following
the dismissal of goalkeeper Tim Wiese on 57 minutes.
Bremen are now out to 16/1.
In the other semi-final Osasuna edged out holders Sevilla 1-0.
Roberto Soldado scored the only goal of the all-Spanish clash in the 55th minute as hosts Osasuna, playing in their first-ever semi-final, built a narrow lead to take to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for next week’s second leg.
The bookies still expect Sevilla to turn the tie around however and Sports Interaction make them 13/8 to defend the trophy while Osasuna are 10/3 to triumph.
