Dallas Mavericks on the brink of NBA playoff elimination
The New Jersey Nets beat the Toronto Raptors 102-91 in game four of their NBA playoff series on Sunday.
Vince Carter scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the first quarter and New Jersey built an early lead that Toronto was never able to recover from.
The Nets drained 14 3-pointers, including five
each by Carter and Jason Kidd and led by as many as 33 points.
Carter also scored seven rebounds and made seven assists. Kidd posted 17 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds to just miss his 11th career playoff triple-double, while Richard Jefferson netted 23 points.
Andrea Bargnani led the Raptors with 16 points and Chris Bosh finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Nets will try to wrap up the series on Tuesday in Toronto.
In other NBA playoff action, the Golden State Warriors roared from behind to beat the Dallas Mavericks 103-99 Sunday night to take a 3-1 series lead in their first round playoff series.
Baron Davis had 33 points, five coming in the final 3 minutes and Jason Richardson scored 22 for the Warriors, who could become just the third team in league history to eliminate a number one seed in round one.
Jerry Stackhouse scored 24 points to keep the Mavs ahead for most of the second half, but they couldn’t hang on for the win.
Game five goes Tuesday night in Dallas, where the Mavericks went 36-5 in the regular season, but lost the series opener.
