The Big East conference is always anybody’s game, and the Louisville Cardinals sure took advantage of it.

It’s not long ago that the Louisville Cardinals struggled, lost two in a row and almost fell at the very bottom of the Big East conference standings. Even with all of Louisville’s problems this season, they were able to hang in there and that’s all thanks to the Big East’s lack of a real dominant team.

Now, barely a month later, the Louisville Cardinals have the longest streak in the Big East and are now the top dogs of the conference.

”Obviously, coach Pitino is a terrific coach and he has them playing on all cylinders right now,” St. John’s head oach Norm Roberts said of Louisville Cardinals head coach Rick Pitino. ”They’re going to be a very, very tough out in this tournament.”

Of course, you just know that coach Pitino just loves where they are at this point of the year’s March Madness bracket battles.

”We’re peaking at the right time,” Pitino said.

”We had so many injuries. It was a devastating thing for the team. That was the hardship. The blessing was that I wouldn’t have played all these freshman that much early on in such integral roles if not for the injuries.”

”The blessing is that the freshmen really developed a lot quicker than we anticipated. And everyone is back, everybody but Juan Palacios. We’re a lot better team because of those injuries.”
