It’s no secret that the University of Florida Gators are the underdogs heading into Monday’s BCS championship game against No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes.
But then as the underdogs, the Gators can go into this game with the motivation needed to win. And when all is said and done, maybe
they’ll get what they want and deserve: Respect.
“Every time you pick up a paper or magazine you see Ohio State, then you see one page of Florida or just the title, Florida Gators,” Gators defensive tackle Joe Cohen told reporters. “And you know, we fought to get here, too.
We want a little credit that we’re here. At least acknowledge that we’re in the game. I guess Jan. 8 we’ll show that we’re in the game.”
Although unbeaten throughout the regular season, the Buckeyes have relied heavily on Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith and are counting on a team effort to win the national championship.
Oddsmakers currently have the Buckeyes listed as 7.5-point favorites versus the Gators, while the game’s total is sitting at 46.
