AC Milan’s Kaka targets Champions League goal-scoring record
Brazilian midfielder Kaka will be the center of the soccer world when AC Milan aims to beat Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final in Athens, Greece, on Wednesday (2:45 p.m. ET).
Kaka (pictured) has scored tournament-leading 10 goals, two more than he had in the Italian league season, and is a key factor in Milan’s status as a favorite. The Rossonieri enter at +110 on the moneyline (meaning a winning wager of $100 would yield a $110 profit). Liverpool is a +205 underdog and a draw is a +215 long shot.
In the final, Kaka will have a chance to match Ruud van Nistelrooy’s tournament record of 12 goals scored in 2002-03. His three goals in the semifinals propelled Milan past Manchester United and gives the team a chance at redemption against Liverpool.
In 2005, Milan blew a 3-0 lead as Liverpool rallied to win the title in a shootout.
