BCS: Southern Miss Golden Eagles vs Cincinnati Bearcats at PapaJohns.com Bowl

Cincinnati Bearcats play Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles in the PapaJohns.com Bowl on December 22 in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Cincinnati Bearcats opened 6-0 this season and had consecutive wins on the way to their best start since 1954. They beat
Oregon State and on Oct. 6, they went on the road to defeat No. 21 Rutgers 28-23 — the first ranked opponent Cincinnati had beaten away from home since knocking off Southern Miss 52-24 on Nov. 6, 2004.
Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Brian Kelly team dropped games to unranked Louisville and Pittsburgh, but rebounded with victories over No. 20 South Florida and 16th-ranked Connecticut. Those wins set the Cincinnati Bearcats up for a game against No. 5 West Virginia with a chance to play for the Big East title, but the Mountaineers won 28-23.
“A game like that shows that we are close to these teams,” Cincinnati Bearcats safety Haruki Nakamura said.
Though the Cincinnati Bearcats didn’t make it to a BCS game, Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Brian Kelly’s first full season at Cincinnati was a success. Bearcats head coach Brian Kelly was named the Big East’s coach of the year.
Cincinnati scored at will when they used Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Ben Mauk. The Bearcats averaged 36.8 points per game this season, a huge increase over last year’s 21.1 points.

Brigham Young Cougars running back Harvey Unga was another dominant new face in Brigham Young Cougars’ attack, totaling 1,840 yards from scrimmage and 17 touchdowns in his red shirt freshman season.
Brigham Young Cougars Sophomore defensive end Jan Jorgensen leads the BYU defense after pacing the Mountain West in both quarterback sacks and tackles for losses.
Health problems and inconsistent quarterback play have hurt the UCLA Bruins all season long.
BCS: Memphis Tigers vs Florida Atlantic Owls at New Orleans Bowl

Florida Atlantic Owls hopes to end their season with a bang when they meet the Memphis Tigers in the New Orleans Bowl on December 21 at the Superdome.

However, Ray Allen also committed the foul in the last second that sent Detrot Pistons guard Chauncey Billups to the free throw line. With no time left on the clock, Chauncey Billups sank both free throws to win the game for the Detroit Pistons 87-85 in controversial fashion.

It seemed highly unlikely, but then it did happen. The New York Knicks dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers at The Madison Square Garden in New York City 108-90. Playing without star guard Stephon Marbury, the New York Knicks still managed to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers by 28 points.
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Lebron James had a game-high 32 points plus 8 rebounds and 6 assists, but he was the only one who scored big for the team. Cleveland Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden scored 11 points, and was the only other player to be in double-digit scoring.
