2006 Breeders’ Cup Odds & Predictions
Well, the wait is finally over. The Breeders’ Cup World Championship begins tomorrow and practically every racing fan in the world will tune in to watch the best horses vie for the coveted title of world champion – in each of the respective eight races.
In the Classic, prominent names like Bernardini, David Junior, and Invasor are all the talk of the industry, seemingly overshadowing the powerful field of 13. While handicappers have picked the even favorite Bernardini to claim victory; some experts believe the race is so overloaded with talent that choosing a winner could be an improbable feat.
The Classic rightfully deserves a lot of the attention, but the other 7 races of the day should not be overlooked. The Mile, which has the impressive turner Aragorn, and the unprecedented Gorella; looks to be an exciting alternative to the main race of the day.
The Sprint also has an attractive lineup with the undefeated and virtually untested Henny Hughes leading the way, while War Front has not finished worse than second in six starts this season; but owns only a single victory.
The most intriguing race of the day may be the Turf, where plenty of dramatic elements will contribute for yet another memorable running of the 1 1/2-mile race.
Not only is there the longstanding rivalry of Europe versus America, but arguably the best rivalry within American racing this year - English Channel versus Cacique - also will have its final reprise.
The Distaff, the Juvenile, the Juvenile Filles, and the Filly & Mare Turf all incorporate the top runners in their respective fields, so don’t be surprised if there is a little more magic unveiled on this fantastic day.
All the races will be worth the wait, but be patient…it is only 1 more sleep!
