NBA Wednesday will see Old Teams with New Players Face-off for Supremacy
The Chicago Bulls saddled themselves with losing for so long, six straight seasons to be exact, that they still can’t shake their skeptics in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
”I know people may look at us as a struggling franchise, trying to piece together wins, but we had a pretty good year last year, and I think we’re going to continue to win,” Bulls head coach Scott Skiles said.
It was Skiles’ boldest prediction of the season, quite a turnaround from the struggles he and general manager John Paxson anticipated just a month ago. The Bulls have made significant strides as evidenced by their performance at this point of the
season, a feat that should quell the last five years of horror stories on this so-called circus trip.
On Wednesday, the young Bulls will be put to the test in, possibly the biggest stage in all of basketball, Madison Square Garden, as the Bulls visit the New York Knicks, a team also in their rebuilding process.
‘Captain’ Kirk Heinrich will try to fill the shoes of number 23, Michael Jordan, as he tries once again to lift the franchise out of obscurity. However, there is also a young stalwart within the ranks of the Knickerboxers that just might fill the shoes of New York’s tall leader, number 33 Patrick Ewing.
Channing Frye.
Channing Frye began the Knicks season buried in the bench. Frye even goes through one game as a DNP (did not play). Now, he is beginning to take over the center slot and is beginning to become New York’s second offensive threat. Next of course to Stephon Marbury.
And Frye did all that in his very first year in the NBA.
The Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks are two NBA teams with storied history. On Wednesday, expect all these history and tradition play on the NBA hardwood with a new breed of gladiators trying to lead their respective teams to basketball glory. When the final buzzer sounds to end the game at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks could very well win the battle. The war, on the other hand, has just begun.
