NCAA College Football Betting pick 2009 GMAC Bowl the Ball State Cardinals versus the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 at 5:20 pm

Tulsa Golden Hurricanes NCAA FootballThe Ball State Cardinals were previously famous only for being the alma mater of David Letterman and nothing more. This season it drew considerable attention to itself as their football team the Ball State Cardinals drew viewers attention as they progressed to a 12-0 NCAA Football season. The undefeated dream ended in the MAC title game after a stunning 42-24 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bulls. Still, the loss does not diminish the season that the Ball State Cardinals have and nothing can take away the NCAA Football season that quarterback Nate Davis has had. The Ball State Cardinals quarterback threw for 3,442 yards and received some Heisman Trophy votes. The Ball State Cardinals are yet to bounce back from a loss this NCAA Football season but checking history, over the past few seasons, The Ball State Cardinals are 10-2 against any given spread. Tulsa Golden Hurricanes had a tremendously tricky time this year recuperating after a loss that ended the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes’ dream of a perfect season after an 8-0 start. After losing to the Arkansas Razorbacks as seven-point favourites, the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes are currently contemplating over that setback. The Ball State Cardinals are 0-6 in bowl games, if that is what the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes need to know. The Ball State Cardinals lost 52-30 to Rutgers Scarlet Knights in last season’s 2008 International Bowl despite getting three TD passes from Nate Davis.

A lot will be made out of the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes offense and…

Another GMAC Bowl win for Tulsa?

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 at 4:48 pm

A second straight GMAC Bowl is what Tulsa will be gunning for at the Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

The 2009 GMAC Bowl will mark the second straight year the Tulsa Golden Hurricane will play in this BCS bowl game. Last season, Tulsa handily beat Bowling Green, 63-7, to win that year’s GMAC Bowl.

It was the largest margin of victory in BCS bowl history, as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane erased the record set by the Alabama Crimson Tide back in 1953 when they dominated Syracuse, 61-6, to win the Orange Bowl.

2009 GMAC BowlTulsa is going back to the GMAC Bowl and will face a team that won its first 12 games this season, the Ball State Cardinals. Although Ball State ended the regular season with a disappointing 42-24 loss to Buffalo, the Cardinals still got the invite for the GMAC bowl.

The question now is, are they mentally prepared for the Golden Hurricanes, a team going for their second straight GMAC bowl win.

Ball State started this season 12-0 before losing 42-24 against Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference championship game. Ball State was ranked No.12 in the Associated Press top 25 poll. But after losing to the Bulls, the Cardinals dropped to No.23 in the rankings.Ironically, Tulsa also lost its last game in a conference championship game. East Carolina beat the Golden Hurricane 27-24 at Chapman Stadium to win the Conference USA title.

So with both teams losing their last respective contests, we’ll probably have a GMAC bowl game with both teams looking for redemption aside from trying to win a piece of…

Ravens meet Titans in AFC Divisonals

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 at 10:30 am

Miami’s improbable Cinderella run in the NFL playoffs ended in Baltimore.

Yes, another quarterback from the AFC got his Cinderella season abruptly ended when Chad Pennington and his Miami Dolphins lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 27-9, the most convincing result among the four NFL wild card weekend matchups.

In the same weekend that league MVP Peyton Manning took an abrupt exit from the postseason, the Miami Dolphins fell to the Baltimore Ravens, 27-9, as Miami failed to carry over all of the elements that previously made this team successful.

Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington Chad Penningtonthrew four interceptions, including one that was returned 64 yards by Baltimore safety Ed Reed, while Dolphins running back Patrick Cobbs also committed turnovers, coughing up a fumble after taking a tough hit near the sideline.

Pennington, who has been so sensationally efficient this season, struggled severely to carry that same poise into the playoffs. The quarterback completed 25 of 38 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown.

While the Dolphins’ defense was generally successful when it came to minimizing the number of long drives the Baltimore Ravens have, the unit’s task became even more difficult as a result of the badly timed turnovers by their offense.

Even with the loss, the 2008 campaign the Dolphins had will still undoubtedly go down as one of the most magical regular-season performances in the team’s storied history. Watch out for these guys next season.

The Ravens will have the Tennessee Titans next, this season’s ‘’almost perfect’’ team. The Titans better bring their…

NCAA College Football Betting Picks 2009 Fiesta Bowl the Texas Longhorns versus the Ohio State Buckeyes

Monday, January 5th, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Texas Longhorns NCAA FootballFor the Texas Longhorns this was a great season that was blemished by ill-fated circumstances. The Texas Longhorns had a pair of great wins over teams like Oklahoma State and Missouri. Then the Fiesta Bowl got the first replacement pick to replace the Oklahoma Sooners and immediately took their Big XII brethren the Texas Longhorns. The Texas Longhorns are furious and they have an appropriate reason to. On October 11, 2008 the Texas Longhorns defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl 45-35. however the Oklahoma Sooners would be in the BCS national championship three days afterwards. Texas Longhorns Quarterback Colt McCoy had a great season despite much less support than his Big 12 counterpart, Sam Bradford of the Oklahoma Sooners. Colt McCoy is third in the nation in passing efficiency at 179.2 and also leads the Texas Longhorns in rushing with 704 yards while sophomore Vondrell McGee finished second on the team with 399 yards.

The Ohio State Buckeyes got to this Fiesta bowl basically because of their name. The Ohio State Buckeyes lost to the Penn State Nittany Lions is more of a preview of things to come when they need it the most and nothing would be a better scenario for the Ohio State Buckeyes than here in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. The Ohio State Buckeyes ended their season ranked tenth in the BCS rankings. Despite the Ohio State Buckeyes ranked 78th in total offense they on the other hand ranked…

Chargers in AFC Divisional Round

Monday, January 5th, 2009 at 5:25 pm

It was a disappointing last hurrah for this year’s NFL Most Valuable Player.

In case you haven’t heard, the 2009 NFL playoffs kicked off this weekend as league MVP Peyton Manning saw his Indianapolis Colts lose to the San Diego Chargers while Chad Pennington’s Cinderella season was cut short for him by the Baltimore Ravens when his Miami Dolphins could only muster nine points to Baltimore’s 27.

Of course, Pennington’s mishap was nothing compared to what Peyton Manning had to endure.

San Diego Chargers beat Indianapolis ColtsHe was coming into this AFC wild card game with the San Diego Chargers only a day after he was proclaimed as the 2008 NFL Most Valuable Player. To see him go out like that again to the same team was just unfair.

Darren Sproles scooted 22 yards for the winning score 6:20 into overtime and the San Diego Chargers beat the Colts 23-17 in an AFC wild-card game Saturday night, ending Indianapolis’ nine-game winning streak a day after Manning won his third Associated Press NFL MVP award.

Sproles came up big on a night when the Chargers played the final 2 ½ quarters without LaDainian Tomlinson, who stood on the sideline in obvious discomfort from what appears to be a serious groin injury.

Fifty years after the Baltimore Colts won the first overtime game in league history by the same score over the New York Giants for the NFL title, the Indianapolis Colts were not as fortunate. The Colts were victimized by Sproles, who rushed 23 times for 105 yards, caught five passes for 45 yards, had 106 yards on four kickoff returns and…
