The Milwaukee Bucks are a National Basketball Association team based in Milwaukee , Wisconsin . The Bucks are one of eight teams in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. The franchise plays in the Bradley Center in Milwaukee , Wisconsin and wear jerseys of green and purple. The current team owner is U.S. Senator Herb Kohl. Milwaukee Bucks has won one NBA Championship title, two Conference titles and thirteen Division titles. The Milwaukee Bucks were formed in January 1968 when the NBA awarded a franchise to Milwaukee Bucks were formed in January 1968 when the NBA awarded a franchise to Milwaukee Professional Sports and Services, Inc. (Milwaukee Pro), a group headed by Wesley Pavalon and Marvin Fishman. On April 30, 1971 , the Bucks won Game 4 of the NBA Finals over the Baltimore Bullets in Milwaukee 118-106, to win the NBA Championship. The championship was won faster than by any other expansion team in professional sports history (3rd season). In 1985, Milwaukee businessman Herb Kohl bought the Bucks after fears that out-of-town investors could buy the team and move it out of Milwaukee . In 2003, after considering selling the team, Kohl announced that he decided against selling the Bucks to Michael Jordan and would keep and own the team which he still does to date. During three consecutive seasons, from 1971-72 through 1973-74, the Bucks reached the NBA playoffs.
Although Kareem Abdul-Jabbar known as Alcindor then won his second straight scoring title and MVP award during the 1971-72 season, the BucMilwaukee Bucksks lost in the conference Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1973-74 Abdul-Jabbar earned his third MVP award, leading the Bucks to the 1974 NBA Finals against the Bolton Celtics. The Celtics won in seven games, that series is considered one of the most memorable in professional basketball; the series featured two overtime games. During the late 1980s and early 1990s the Bucks compiled four consecutive winning seasons, but the club only once advanced past the first round in the playoffs. In the 2004-2005 season, with injuries problems and a poor defense, the Bucks missed the playoffs with a 30-52 record. Despite only having 6% chance for the first selection in the NBA Draft Lottery, the Bucks won the first pick for the 2005 NBA Draft which was later used to select Andrew Bogut of the University of Utah . Some of the current players in the Bucks' roster are Ervin Johnson, Michael Redd, Jermaine Jackson, Maurice Williams and Joe Smith.
